MUV-4 mine fuze with hydraulic arming delay element. The fuze is a further development of the MUV2/3 series an can be used with numerous mines or booby-traps. The body and the delay housing can be made of green plastic, but also made of metal.
When the safety pin is removed, a spring-loaded plunger moves slowly its way down through a silicone gel. In the lower position, the two safety balls are released, and the firing pin is held by the striker reteining pin. The fuze is armed, the delay housing falls off or can be removed. The delay time depends on the color code: Green 130 minutes, black 85 minutes, red 60 minutes, white 45 minutes, and colorless 25 minutes. The fuze can also be used as a time fuze if the safety pins and the striker pin are removed together.
