MPS and TARP Subcaliber Adaptors

Lewis

Well-Known Member
I have been accumulating subcaliber adaptor sets to try to identify some of the adaptors floating around. Not long ago I found one (pictured below) labeled MPS and made by Millard Brothers Ltd, PO Box 24, Motherwell ML1 4UP, Scotland. I have tried to find anything relevant on the internet, and found a Millard Brothers, but an email indicated they no nothing about this set. The kit is in 38 Special and includes a barrel, one metal subcaliber round and 15 plastic subcaliber rounds including a box of "Pyrotechnic Tubes" to fit in the rounds and are to be loaded with a small pistol primer. There is also a can of air Rifle pellets

As you can see, the MPS 38 Special round and the TARP 9mmP have a lot in common, including both using the metal tube inside.

I'd appreciate any answers, opinions or thoughts on the following questions:

1. Are the MPS system and the TARP system related? Are the two companies connected or are the same people involved with the design of the two products?

2. Has anyone seen or know of a MPS system in a caliber other than 38 Special? Is there one in 9mmP, and if so can I get photos of it?

3. Does the TARP system also use a barrel like the MPS? I assume it does but have never seen one. Does anyone have a full TARP set? All I have is the box of plastic adaptors.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

Lew

Hi Lewis,

Millard Brothers used to operate under the trade name "Millbro", and were well known in the 1950s and 60s as makers of Millbro "Caledonian" brand airgun pellets. I doubt if they are still in business, as I haven't seen that brand of pellet for a while, but whether they were taken over by another firm, or simply went out of business, I don't know.

Doubt if this is very helpfull to you, but good luck with your query anyway!

Regards,
Roger.
