Mortar Aerial Deleivery System

Does anyone know about or ever hear about the Mortar Aerial deleivery System (MADS)? It was a program that was tested during Vietnam. From what I ahve determined they droped 60, 81, 4.2" and maybe 105s from choppers. Thier fuzes were repalced with impact bomb fuze simialr to the ones used in frag bombs.

I need so documented information on the system

I believe Squadron Signal Publications had a few photos of some oks on the Vietnam HueysHueys and some info on the system in one of their photo books on the Hueys used in Vietnam. It showed a trough that extended down at an angle out of the chopper, and the personnel would roll the 81mm M43 mortar bombs down the ramp.

I will see if I can find my books.

And then there is Google:

thanks, I may already have these but the DTIC web site isn't opening right now for some reason. I'll try them Monday.

Am still trying to ID a setup that I think is related, a 60mm that is in a tube with fins. I posted it last year and think I will bring it back on this site, maybe someone new or with newer info can help ID it
