First one is a Mark I Buckingham. Apart from the fact that the headstamp is the right period, the shape of the bullet is distinctive. There is no other .303 inch bullet with that profile. Another pointer is the fact that it is a copper turned bullet that has been nickel plated. This was done to disguise the fact that it was an incendiary in the hope that any captured examples would be taken for Mark VI ball rounds. Some even had an inverted "VI" overstamped on the headstamp. A very nice round, where did you find it?

The second was loaded at Royal Laboratory, Woolwich, using cases made by supplier Number 8. It is not known who this is as the numbered codes (1 to 6 and 8) have never been definitely identified. All that is in my book which you bought!!

It has a Mark II bullet in it because when the Mark IV was withdrawn due to the St.Petersburg Agreement and Hague Conventions production reverted to the Mark II and surplus Mark IV cases were used up.

I bought a lot from Roger Wood at the last meet up, I would love to be able to get hold of his lists though as all of the rounds are numbered it would have saved me a lot of time. But on the other hand I am really enjoying finding all about each round as I go through them, that's where the Purple Label round came from as well. I am having to go through them quite a few times so I don't miss anything. Tony I have read both of your books twice now and I still have not taken all the info in.

I just have to decide which ones I collect there are so many marks, types, Manufacturers and then all the little differences in the headstamps I cant collect them all "CAN I" :xd:

Thanks
Richard.

I thought perhaps that is where they came from as I know he is selling his collection.

You can collect them all if you want to, but if you would like to move the Mark I Buck on, I would be interested in taking it as my one has a different headstamp. If you do decide to sell it, PM me with price etc. (and don't forget it is S.5)

Regards

Tony do you know how I can get hold of Roger I cant find any details anywhere, I will be keeping hold of the Buck Mk1 it will have pride of place in my collection for a long time as I am still on the cheaper rounds for quite a while but if I do let it go you will be first to know.

many thanks
Richard.

Got some more goodies today for my collection from an auction. I only wanted the .303 drill/dummy/inspectors rounds but they came with a lot of others so if anyone collect drill/dummy rounds in other calibers send me a pm, I have no idea what the 2 .303 WW-super drill/dummy rounds are they have a soft point bullet in them.

I will be parting with some of the Wesley Richards Copper nosed rounds as well if anyone is looking for an addition to their .303 collection. I can render them inert if required or face to face with correct FAC

More photo's to follow

Thanks
Richard.

That last pic, is that israeli 8x57 blanks? Hunting ammo does not tickle my fancy, but I envy your drill rounds...

Yes they are, it is a shame you are not in the UK I don't think it is possible to send to Denmark.

Which drill rounds do you collect.

Richard.
