Medium calibre ammunition in my collection (INERT)

Very nice rounds there Charley ,obviously you don't get earthquakes up your way!

Bob

What is it in the 2nd picture, top row, far left, I take it it is trench art made from a 20mm?? Looks like a small bomb!

That small bomb is an American Vietnam era "Lazy Dog" flechette. These were thrown out of helicopters by the bucketload into the jungle below. I have read that they could reach the speed of a .50 BMG bullet if dropped from high enough. It was a cheap way of causing casualties to Vietcong hiding amongst the dense jungle.

Also, Charley777: what are the two rounds between the 15mm MG151 and .50 Spotter in the first photo?

Greetings....answers:-
Kahu1..............haha, true, no earthquakes
Highlandotter ...that is a 40x107R SCT and harbour launch gun case with a 2Pr HE projectile with a Japanese replica fuze (oops forgot to remove it for the photo)
Charlie1.......... Falcon has answered that for me.
Falcon............ 13.2x92SR Mauser AT round plus 13x94 exp Polte AT (as i remember this was a cover-up round for the 7.92x94 which is same case necked down)

Nice collection Charley how about a close up of the 30mm rounds at the top of picture four please
mick

Thanks for the ID. This is a new one for me. Any information on the gun and it's maker? Who made the case and date? Thanks agian, highlandotter

Thanks charley very nice rounds .Whats the round on the far left ?the fourth round from the right is it a defa,as you seem to have it in an aden case.?
mick

Harley i have rephotographed those rounds and also labelled them. Yes that is probably a DEFA projectile in a 30x111B Aden case. One day i might find the correct proj.
The HS-825 case on far left is also equipped with an incorrect proj. It is one of those used in the case next to it. It is dimensionally similar to a correct projectile so i justify it as being representational LOL

40x107R HA SCT etc

Highlandotter
the headstamp on this case is very good. Originally stamped:- (clockwise from 12o'clock) 2Pdr 1 1917 VSM CF RL 113. There are also various inspectors' marks . This has been overstamped :- 2 Pr SUB-CAL. H.A. Mks II & III GUNS 1930 NRLI The rim is milled for half it's circumference.

Hi charley, thanks for the info ,i have a defa case if your interested send me your address and ill mail it to you , i might even have a spare aden projectile ill have a look regards mick

Thanks Mick, i have sent you a PM (i can't get to the internet every day, by the way). Have questions regarding the 30mm projectiles that i have so will probably post photos here in a few days.

My mixed up 30mm revolver projectiles.

Hell Mick
Having difficulties uploading images today. One seems to have worked.
I seem to have two US types, one M788 that goes with a LW case also marked M788, and one of similar shape but with a copper driving band.
Then the other two loose ones (badly painted) seem to be similar to the one crimped into the DEFA case. Leaving the Aden case an orphan

APDSFST your prvate message box is full

IMG_4313.jpgIMG_4314.jpgIMG_4315.jpgAs requested, the haedstamp of the 20x105B Hungarian case. I think the projectile is German. And as you can see the case has been damaged on one side . But that's OK when collecting what one can from the other side of the world.
Your PM box is full so i could not send you a message ...cheers...Charley
