Hi all,
I have some problems with the ID of manufacturors codes. Here are my problems :

1. a 90mm case NR5499A1 (probably BEL) with code : EEB

2. a 76mm M26 case (probably USA) with code : DB/C

4. a 1inch Sig Red cart (probably BEL) with TWO different unknown codes, one stenciled and one stamped : stenciled PFF, stamped VAW !!!

Now it's all for today !

The 1inch "PPF" is loaded in Germany by "Piepenbrock Pyrotechnik GmbH".
The case manufacturer should be in Thielbrger's book which I do not have handy.

OK, "VAW" is "Vereinigte Aluminiumwerke".

As I see I looked up the wrong code which should have been "PFF" and is "Pyrotechnische Fabrik Feistel" of Gllheim.

Thanks for the answers, EOD.
How can you explain the two markings on the same cartridge ? Commonly, it's always the same manufacturors code !

Yoda, actually not.
A cartridge does not have to be made all by one single factory. It is often the case with small arms ammo manufacturers (and even there is a lot of flaw).
Means the larger the caliber the likelier that for example the used components originate from various manufacturers and are assembled by the final one which is given as the "manufacturer".

You see that often with German WWII ammunition and also with Soviet/Russian ammunition where basically every single component can be made by a different factory.

In particular the metal works are often "outsourced". Means an ammunition manufacturer whcih is known as such is ordering his cases or projectile bodies from which ever metal workshop which is making the best offer or is able to do the job in time.

Speaking about 1inch and 4 GA / 26.5mm it is in Germany almost always the case that the aluminum cases are made by specialized aluminum extrusion workshops (companies) which do supply only the cases. Same also goes for the 40x46 and 40x53 grenade launcher cases.

Thanks to you, EOD and Shaky, for your quick answers !

Have you an idea for the EEB and EM codes ?
Or someone else.....
