Hi all,

Can anyone tell me, please, who the makers of the following cases are:
1. 2 Pdr No.1, 1916 date, maker's mark MDCo;
2. 2 Pdr No.1, 1916, SH&S;
3. 40mm Bofors L60, 1944, D.F.T.;
4. 3 Pdr, 1915, BSC;
5. 6 Pdr 7Cwt, 1942, ECA;
6. 12 Pdr 12Cwt, 1917, large C, with 3 smaller c's over it at 6, 9, & 12 o'c;
7. 4.5" Howitzer, CCM (letters separated by 2 triangles, point-to-point)
Many thanks.

"MDCo" Is "Metal Drawing Company, St. Catherine's, Ontario".

Sorry, I can't help on any of the others.

Thanks Falcon, that is at least a start. Now I look forward to all the other experts out there identifying the others!

I also have a 2 Pounder case made by MDCo in 1916. I got it from a car boot for 1 a couple of years ago.

2 Pdr No.1, 1916 date, maker's mark MDCo;
Metal Drawing Co. St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada

2 Pdr No.1, 1916, SH&S;

3 Pdr, 1915, BSC;
Bethlehem Steel Co., USA (or one of their many sub-contractors)

6 Pdr 7Cwt, 1942, ECA;
E. Curran. Aberdare

12 Pdr 12Cwt, 1917, large C, with 3 smaller c's over it at 6, 9, & 12 o'c;

ydnum303,

Re 2 Pdr No.1, 1916, SH&S
Unknown

Tripped over this whilst looking for something for TimG:

SH&S was used by S Heath & Sons Ltd Birmingham. My reference has them down for primers but a candidate for your cartridge nevertheless.

ydnum303,

4.5" Howitzer, CCM (letters separated by 2 triangles, point-to-point)

The Curran Metal and Munitions Co., Ltd., Hurman Street, Cardiff.

Bonnex,

"SH&S was used by S Heath & Sons Ltd Birmingham. My reference has them down for primers but a candidate for your cartridge nevertheless."

That was silly of me not to notice that, I've checked "Small firms" and they also made cartridge cases.

Regards

Thanks Bonnex and TimG, that info's great!
Gspragge, although I have seen quite a few Canadian-made cases of various calibres over here, I have never seen any projectiles with obvious Canadian marks on them, as far as I know.
Thanks again chaps,
R.
