Afternoon all, Can anyone identify this magazine please? It looks similar to a Stirling SMG but it is only 8" long and has not got the 2 rollers on the feed ramp. Hopefully the pictures will be OK. Many thanks, Wooly
i think it cound be a patchett smg mag as its very similar to the sterling in shape but the follower is different.it also looks like a magazine for the austrailian f1 smg.it has the sterling clamshell design but on the back of the magazine stopper is diferent on all to yours . .got me thinking now lol
Hi Wooly77,As Darrol says it looks like the mag from an Australian F1,the F1 could also use mags from the British and Canadian Sterling,I credit this information to,Military Sall Arms of the 20th Century,by Ian Hogg and John Weeks,
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Don,
IMHO, it is an ugly looking weapon of which is up there in the Top 10 of ugly guns. But what do I know. It worked well so that is all that matters. Still would rather have a Sterling or STEN Mk.5. I had the immmense pleasure of shooting a select-fire Sterling and a Bren in 7.62x51mm. The owner of both allowed me to shoot around 2,000 - 3,000 rounds for each. I'll take the Bren anytime. I had the pleasure of shooting over 20+ "select-fire" weapons.
Hello all, Many thanks for the information. I havn't got the magazine to hand at the moment but will have a look tomorrow to see if there are any markings on it. How common are these by the way? Wooly
