Large carbide slug - found in a cartridge collectors convention...

This is a weird one. A friend of mine was going to a cartridge collectors convention. These fellows are more likely to be
thrown into fits of ecstasy by a box of .22 short cartridges from 1950 than by a carbide perpetrator, so it was no wonder
this was not bought, although it is probably pretty desirable.

I do not have detailed info yet, just the yardstick below, but it looks about 2" in diameter, don't know how long,
but it is big and I was told it is very heavy.

Can anybody make heads or tails of this? The front end definitely looks to be for hard impact, so I will assume it is
what I think it is, but from what?

Also, it has a chunk missing out of the rear, like a piece fractured off. I have no more info.

Sorry, this is it! Oh, for scale there is I think a 20mm Solothurn case next to it, to the right there, just a little
hint of the case is visible.

Looks like the old 105mm APDS slug, the bottom section is fractured.
