L/70 Date ?

SHAKY

Just a quick question about this 40mm Bofors I've had for quite sometime. What date of manufacture could this be ? The markings LOS DN-2-40 is what I may have improperly assumed as a date of 2 of 1940 but this couldn't be if the L/70 wasn't developed till the 50's ? Any information on this case would be greatly appreciated as I just don't know for sure. Please enlighten me.

There is no way to tell unless you have access to the documentation/archive of the German procurement department.

I shall say what I can !
DN is the manufacturor' code = Diehl GmbH & Co, Neurnberg, Germany

The nomenclature of your case is DM 2 = Deutscher Model 2. This type of nomenclature is SURE post WW II. I don't known when they exactly began with this type of nomenclature, but it is sure after WW II.
The 2-40 is not the year of construction.
