Intergated weapon system

Hi,

Thought I'd share some pictures of the scale 1/2 P40 warhawk I built from scatch for my kids. They now have an integrated weapon system (= fighter/bomber) to play with, which is a bit more cool than the standard toy guns.
I made a two seater version for more fun. Ammo belts (7,62mm blanks) can be loaded into the wings and fake "250lb bomb" underneath the fuselage. Notice the aerial gun camera under the wing. The plane is approximately 5m long and has a wingspan of 5m. It weighs 160kg.

Great fun to build it and see kids (and their friends) go out of their mind in the plane.
Unfortunately... it doesn't fly.

As kids are growing bigger than (co)pilot space, I'll need to find a solution to get this out of the garden one day.DSCN6906.jpgDSCN6903.jpgDSCN6904.jpgDSCN6905.jpg

Timefuze, sir you are a star, there has been a lot of time thought and dedication gone into that plane, well done,
Regards,Don,

I bet your kids get lots of 'friends' wanting to come over for 'tea'!!!!

Fantastic job you have done there...........how long did it take you?

regards Kev

Thanks, guys.

It took me three summer to finish this model. We were collecting parts to build "an airplane" for quit some years, when my kids in 2009 finally said:" Dad, now you"ll have to build it!". The front window is for example a windshield from a motorcycle, which we bought on a flee market. The air intake is a modified plastic flower pot. We started making the fuselage in our future kitchen and rolled it outside right before the floor was going to be laid. The next summer we built the wings and some details. This summer we painted it.

Maybe next time a scale 1/2 B25? 7 kids can play simultaneously then :).

Cheers,

Most impressive model that and very nicely made with a lot of thought having gone into it !

You will undoubtedly get the "best Dad of the year" vote from your children.
