I am trying to identify this item please. The image was sent along with images of various grenades so there may be a clue there. I know nothing of its age, country of origin, type of construction etc. ymtunknown.jpg

HI,

What's this - another BOCN guessing competition! (LOl)

OK It looks like the nose sction from a German WW2 Panzerschereck rocket. The colour difference where the tip of your index finger is at, may be the part that fits into the rest of the rocket body?????

Cheers
Drew

Thank you Drew. I have never seen the item. It is part of a collection that I will be looking at next week.

I am more and more convinced that Dronic69 is correct in his identification. My next question is - can any one provide a diagram of what is contained within the nose section of a Panzerschreck? WW2 German munitions are a bit out of my comfort zone; I need to have as much as info as possible on this item before I see it on Thursday next week.

The item in question is much smaller than a RPzBGr 4322 (Panzerschreck). Look at the size of the hand and compare.
Exat is that item partially made of wood?

EOD - I am sorry but I dont know what the item is made of. I will know more when I see it on Thursday. I was trying to be one step ahead andhave an ID before I see it.

EOD may be correct............as I have two "concerns" with my earlier "guess" :

1) The backend doesn't seem to fit the hollow cone shape concept as one would have expected from this type of weapon;

2) The protuding metal mount on the back resembling more of a front sight seems very out of place for an internal sleeved part.

Yes that does looks like wood protruding from the rear.....hum interesting have a look at the drawing.

Unfortuantely I sold my Panzerchreck rocket about 20 odd years ago so I can't provide measurements.

Cheers
Drew

Problem solved. I have now had the object in my hands and can identify it as the barrel assembly from a Stephen Grant Humane Cattle Killer. Similar to this. cattle%20killer%201.jpghka.jpg

Thanks for the update - BTW - I forgot to mentioned that I funked the "guessing class" at school!

Cheers
