hello chris sorry for the very late response to your question,,They appear to be brass or bronze, the one with the machined Handle ? has a sprung steel spike .The other with the removeable spike is all brass type metal, ive taken some clearer pictures if these help with id
The sprung one is approx 10cm long
The two piece approx 7cm and the spike 9.5cm
Hi Spotter, well they are nicely made and of what appears to be a "spark free" material, so they may be ordnance related, but I have no idea for what purpose they could be used ??:hmmmm2:
Bronze would be a favourite material for tools connected with Explosive work-so they may well be connected.
Are there any markings or stamps on any of them ?
Chris
I remember reading somewhere that it was someone's job at an ordnance depot many years ago to fire off obsolete shell primers by hand (presumably fairly small ones!) before they were scrapped, an un-enviable task I should think. As far as I can remember this was done in some kind of box. These tools look like they could have been used for something like that. I will have to find the source of this info. Tony.
hello Chris and Tony thanks for the replys
Theres no markings at all on these
Ref the one with the built in spike ,when you push in the spike it springs back out again....
Also the job lot of stuff that these came in was all naval ordnance related
i have came across something similar this was in a glass factory
it was placed against the glass at the corner of the frame them struck with a hammer this shattered the glass ?
your items look very similar
