Can anyone positively id this piece ,were finding quite a few all in the same codition on an old UK grenade/anti tank range we are clearing. At present people are suggesting they are the remains of 3in mortar tails,
But when you look closer at the pics they are obviously not..No flash holes ,no cartridge. they appear to have remnants of fins ? what appears to be a flash hole does not go through the tube.
Im thinking remains of PIAT round
Thanks in advance
allan

PIAT or Spigot Mortar maybe ? I don't have either to hand at the moment but the diameter of the tube seems a bit big for a piat 30mm ?

its a bit hard to get accurate measurement due to the heavy crud and decay,,the inner hole is approx 25mm

piat

Looks like PIAT?, remains of 4 fins at one end, is about 7.5ins from tube end to start of belling of the body. in the right sort of range? not possitive but points that way, but not sure of 'hole' in side of tube. 2pr

The hole doesnt go through ,there are four in total equally spaced ..Ive just looked closer at the drawing and it does seem to match nicely.
