HOW was Hammarskjld's DC6 shot down in 1961?

Hi Mark. Thanks for this interesting info. Yes, many witnesses claim they saw one (or two) small airplanes following the DC6. Several also say they saw the small plane(s) flash light on the DC6 once or several times. Some also say they saw a big light (explosion) on the DC6 shortly after. I'm no military expert but this sounds to me as if the small plane(s) shot at the DC6. However, there is also this witness claiming that he saw a group of white soldiers shoot a rocket or missile from the ground (close to the Sakania border post but far from any village or farm). Yes, his story is fantastic and could well be cooked up. But who knows? It's not impossible it could have happened that way. If so, I wonder if the small plane(s) could have collaborated with the ground patrol in any way. According to the witness, the ground patrol had a radio so they could have been in contact with the small plane. Could the small plane have helped the ground patrol to identify the DC6 in the dark? Or pushed it to fly close to the ground patrol?? Any idea?

Yes, the stories about RLI/UN/Swedes sound interesting. I'll start writing on a book soon and this could be good to quote from.

I took a couple of years go I went to a "Tactical Tracking" from a former Rhodesian SAS nbamed David Scott Donelan. He told some facinating stories from 1965-1977. His favorite weapon was the Ruger Mini-14 in 7.62x39mm, which Ruger had not came outt wight until a couples of year ago. His second favorite weapon was the Colt AR-180. then the FAL.
