Hi guys, i was wondering if you could help me in the identification of this projectile. I have to give a presentation on it and i am struggling to identify it!!
The shell is 89 cm from fuze well to base and is 175mm wide at the widest part. It is boat tailed and the base has a measurement of 150mm. The shell has two driving bands both 2.5cm in width, one of which (the upper most) looks like it has screw threads.
It is fitted with what looks like a time combustion fuze which has the markings No199 72 5/41.
It has a red hazard band marking just below the fuze.
It looks like a shell BL 7.2 inch howitzer, would these ever have been fitted with the above mentioned fuze???
