Help With I.D Of These .50 Cal Rounds

Darren

Well-Known Member
SAA is not really my thing so do not know much about these rounds, i am looking for info on what type each round is, i notice that one has a red tip, one has a blue tip and one has a green tip. Not sure if the cases are correct for each of the bullets? Also, i have no idea what the plastic round is or its use?

Any info on each of these would be great.

The green should ba a US AP made for the UK LL. Red is tracer and blue is incendiary.
The white one is an experimental Finnish blank.

Thanks for the info EOD, that's just what I was looking for.

Actually these are not Lend Lease. There seems to be a popular misapprehension that all US material supplied to the UK was Lend Lease which was not the case. Before the LL Act in March 1941 all goods ordered by Britain were paid for with cash, including all these Remington made .50 BMG.

Tony, wasn't LL equipment meant to be paid for too? That was my understanding so far.

The cost of LL equipment was added to the overall War Debt and not paid for at the time as it was theoretically "lent" to us on lease. We only finished repaying this debt a couple of years ago.

Prior to the LL Act Britain paid in full in cash, often up front, for the goods. For example, for the Winchester ammunition purchased in 1940/41 we advanced Winchester the funds to re-equip part of their plant.
