Hi there,

this site has proven very helpful with identifying items of ordnance i have had trouble with in the past and it would be much appreciated if i could enlist the help of the members with these because ive reached the limit of what i can ID without asking!

some of them i have ID'ed already but my main effort is to find more information/sources of information on them, as what i have at the moment is either limited or none existant beyond a designation, unfortunately.

Many thanks in advance for any help

From Left to right - 1) civilian purchase dummy grenade? 2) Unknown mortar - the nose unscrews to show a large percussion cap approx 2" wide 3) the grappling hook mortar just wondered if any had seen anything with regards to this, already have some info though. 4) french AT Rkt - info source would be appreciated. 5) AT rkt.... 6) 14 Pdr? 7) 3 Pdr? 8) 3 inch Anti aircraft? 9) 15 Pdr HE? 10) 5 Inch BL? 11) 10 inch Naval Shell? 12) 6 Pdr shot? 13) 2 Pdr sub calibre munition - actually have quite a bit on this didnt mean to post it :|

Identification

Item 8 is a German 7.6cm Minenwerfer

Item 11 is a German 25cm Minenwerfer

#6

Looks like a Turkish 75mm Howitzer shrapnel projectile, weather it has the correct top or not I'm not sure.

Heller Rocket

As Spotter indicated, photo 5 is the Rocket 3.2 inch AT CDN, commonly referred to as the Heller Rocket. Here is some additional information.

No. 1 needs a better photo and size. Looks similar to a pressure bottle I got from an Honest John rocket, but mine is 4 or 5-inches in diameter. Nothing to compare your photo to size-wise.

hey guys, thanks alot for all the help so far.

US-Subs - No.1 is the size of a hand grenade (bit smaller than a kugelhandgranate)

i have literally no other information for it apart from something from an old technical data sheet saying it was a civilian purchase grenade from phoenix industries or something....

thanks again.

Mark.

No. 9 yellow with band and brass fuze which looks like a no. 117 fuze is not a 15pr way to modern. looks more like a 3.7in How, or 95mm How. I suppose you have had a good look for markings on the base which is where they should be for this type of shell. Check the no. on the fuze and the shell dia. this will help us to id it. 2pr

9 3" in How H/E

I am thinking Number 9 is for a 3" inch Howitzer due to the small band and flat base.

Would it be possible to get some more information on these items, possibly some dimensions?

Yep, have to agree with you and as once "owning" a 15 pdr HE projectile, it required a "LARGE" conical adapter (for the No 56 fuse) which was a sleeve fit, not threaded.....actually I posted a pic of a No56 + adopter a little while ago.

Some measurements might help - also any markings on the body (ie stamped into the projectile)?

Cheers
Drew

i'll be putting up some dimensions and stampings etc a little later today.

The problem im having is that some of these items have been accounted for as such for a long time, long before i came along - i.e. the 15 pdr, which i was pretty sure wasnt because i couldnt find anything that looked like that item.

thanks again for the continued help!

well, im a bit stumped with the 15 pdr - it looks nothing like the other 15 pdrs with No.56s etc or anything i have been able to find on the internet...

yet on the base it is stamped with 15 Pr... the only other markings are for the TNT filling and a Composite Explosive exploder.

im thinking maybe an experimental shell before moving on to the 20 and 25 pdr which it looks more like?

Item #10

Yes, I agree I think this is a German 15cm sFH shell. Maybe the Gr. 05? It is too small to be the Gr.12.

2 Pdr sub caliber

Hi Mark just seen this post,no 13 is a 2 Pounder Sub caliber round. There has been various discussions about this type but no-one was definitely sure if the case was loaded with a standard 2pdr practice projectile. Can you take a closer pic of projectile and list the markings. Best wishes Tony.

Item No. 10 is a german "15 cm Schrapnell 15 mit vorderem Fhrungsband" (15 cm Schr. 15 m. v. F.). It means 15 cm shrapnell 1915 with front driving band. This Schrapnell was only developed for the 15 cm Ring Kanone (15 cm R. K.) to have a "modern" shrapnell for this obsolete gun which was reused when the war started.
