I picked up a small wooden ammo box recently and the only markings it has is H56 and BFL45 stamped on the bottom. Its around 10 in tall by 8x7 square.Brown painted with metal reenforcing and wire handles like the .303 boxes.Tin plate insert present.Sorry no pics at present.Thanks.
Hi NCA75,It would be great if you could take a picture of the box. The fact that it has its tin plate liner indicates it has been used so there may be stencilling on the side. I can only find reference to the H58, which was a tin liner for belted ammunition (.303 and 7.92) Can you have a look for markings on the tin liner? Just a guess but could it be for .50 Browning?? Cheers Gary
