As we passed through Guam we stayed for a few days to see what Japanese WWII sites that we could see and meet up with a fellow collector of Japanese Militiria. He was fantastic and gave us a very good introduction to Guam and some of the sights on a Saturday and gave us pointers for the rest of the week. On Sunday he showed me through his superb collection which was the highlight of my Guam visit.
Will be uploading a heap of photos for you all to see that we took that might be of interest to you all.
The first photo is at Solano, Northern Luzon, Philippines. I coundn't find any markings at all but it is obviously an AA and mounted on what looks to be a naval pedestal. Could be 75mm Type 88. This was the only artillery peice that we saw. I will post photos of a private ordnance collection at a later date.
The rest of the photos are basicly some of the Japanese caves and then that well known tank and dinoseaur. Then the Pacific War Museum. I actually was disapoited with their displays as I though that they should have been more extensive. Not only that, but they had a 40mm bofors case in the Japanese collection and a heap of IJN 25mm AA rounds and cases in the US section. Basicly no ordnance at all eccept of a tokin few. Was on the whole very disapointed with the upkeep on Guam of not only the Guns at the Pacific War Museum but also all of the landmark artillery guns which are slowly but surly rusting away under the supefical coats of paint.
