Gibbons Grenade

I recently obtained a Gibbons training grenade from a popular online militaria dealer. It was mistakenly offered as an "Inert British No. 5 grenade". Priced at under £90, I moved quickly. Drill and training Mills' aren't my forte, but I made an exception here. The lever was absent and the base plug included was a "Vickery Ltd. No 5.MKI" dated 1/16. As is shown, it still retains a feint blue colour. The spring is a "Patent Applied" variant. Luckily I had a "JGW" plug spare in amongst my bits and bobs. If anyone can help, I would like to find a period correct lever to complete it at some point. Can anyone say if they were ever officially adopted by British or Imperial Armies? Were they ever used in training after The Great War?
