Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this book?

Kent, Daniel. 1990. German 7.9mm Military Ammunition, 1888-1945. Daniel W. Kent. Ann Arbor, Michigan. 232p.

Many thanks
Michael

I would recommend the recent 2 volumes by Micke, Kellner and Windisch. Less expensive, in color and way better.

I know Dan does not have any copies left, but there is one copy listed on Abe Books in the UK, but it is 98.00, which is about the going price these days.

I think I might know where there is a copy though at a lower price so will check for you.

Tony,

If you get any details on the cheaper option I would be very interested. If the going rate is 98 I would certainly consider, however I would be keen to get an idea on the amount of information within the book, as i've built up a good contact list already and i would hate to spend the money to find out there is nothing I have not heard already or at least have access to....

I will do.

It is impossible to answer the other point in your post as I have no way of knowing what you already know! If your knowledge is fairly advanced then it probably has little new to you, but it is a very good grounding on the 7.92mm and has quite a bit of useful information. However, I like to have as much reference material as possible to hand rather than rely on remembering things I have seen or heard.

I may be prejudiced though, as it was the first book I ever contibuted to back in about 1968! That was the first edition of course as jonny mentioned. The second edition is the one that usually appears in the book dealers though.

I have ok knowledge now on the different types of rounds, types of projectiles, materials of cases, primers, identification, manufacturers codes etc.

I would like to read some history, many be some wartime reports on the different rounds, some good quality images, maybe some information on the aluminium case prototypes (but maybe they where discovered more recently), I suppose really information to fill in around the facts.

Kent

Agree with jonny. Kent has a fair bit on those topics, including a couple of pages on the aluminium cases. They have been known for a long time, including an aluminium M88 round headstamped "Polte Magdeburg" which was found in the UK and now resides in a well known collection in Arizona!

Regretably, I have checked with my source and he has no copies of Kent's book left.

However, I do see the occassional copy at cartridge meetings so will let you know if I come across one.

Cheers
