German 20mm projectile

Picked this one up today,it came in a brass cased MG FF case but dates are way out so could originally be from any of the WW2 German 20mm rounds..as can be seen it is base fuzed,my first inclination that it is a AP-HE but the example I have (MG FF) has a narrow yellow band near the ogive and cannot find any info on this projectiles wide yellow band, there are faint stencils on the yellow band ? d o(could be partial g) ? 5 42 and a closed winged eagle(number 66)...stamped above the drive band is ctu 5d 42.
Any help with postive id of the load and possibly narrow down the correct case this would have been in please chaps

Cheers
Tony

A small quantity of similarly painted HEAP-projectiles have been found in the past in northern Finland as well. They were in MG151/20 cases and dated 1942. They have similar round-butt base fuze BUT the fuze has right hand thread - not left hand as usually.Sorry but I neither any further ID.

Hi Tony,
An interesting projectile, I have looked through my documents and can't find a reference to that paint pattern on any AP shaped projectile. It looks to have been repainted maybe as there is yellow paint on the body where it looks like it has flaked off in the past. Although the stencils look accurate, I look forward to seeing what info comes up.
Best regards Weasel.

Here picture of one I mentioned earlier. The fuze in middle is the actual right hand threaded and on right the standard left hand thread. Color is original as found, not made up.

Hi Weasel,
that was my first thought until I got home with it and put my eyes on,it seems to have been 'touched up' with a paint brush in the area of that large paint chip, stencils are very faint and only came to light when I made it wet.

Cheers
Tony

Very interesting, thank you for posting the pictures, the different thread on the base fuse is a new one on me, would this not encourage the fuse to unscrew ? If it was fired from a standard barrel.
Best regards Weasel.
