Fuze Removal Tool WW1

Investment

Well-Known Member
Hi,
Does anyone know what numbered fuzes would have been used with this fuze key/spanner?
Its length is close to 26cm and the width is just over 5cm at each end.
I'm not sure if it was manufactured in Australia or a different country.
Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Key, No. 53.- This key is for use with 2-inch percussion or graze fuzes and also the No.2 adapter.

The Mark III key is a solid steel bar having a semicircular projection at each end. These projections are on the same side of the bar and are fitted on the extremity with steel pins, to engage in the slot of the fuze or adapter. The pins have hexagonal heads and are retained in postion by grub screws. The insde of the curved ends is chamfered on both edges to permit of its use both inserting and removing fuzes, one end being dimensioned for use with 106 type fuzes and the other end for 101 type fuzes and No. 2 adapter. The number of fuze is stamped on each face of the semicircle. The key is 15-inches long.

The Mark II key differs from the above in being shorter (10-inches long), and in having each end curved to the same dimensions. The curves are at opposite sides of the bar, and have steel pins driven in.
