Fuze copper sealing washer No:199 fuze.

When i got my 199 fuze minus nose cone which i have now, it came with a copper sealing ring that sealed the fuse to the projectile. Unfortuantly its a bit bent up and i plan to dress it up. I have removed the asbestos cord and plan to anneal the copper ring before i dolly it on a custom made mandril and then crimp in some white cord as a near original. Has anyone a mint copper sealing ring which you could photograph so a can position it right when i form it back shape.

Sorry, I don't have one. They are very fragile. That type of seal or washer was also used on the 25 Pr Smoke BE with the 221 Fuze and perhaps also with some other calibres. Interestingly some 25 Pr Smoke BE had instead a steel washer that was not flat but angled to seat the lower portion of the fuze.

Yes I have one on my 3.7” shell with 199 fuze. I’ll get some photos later today. But easier and much quicker for me to post on one of the Brit ordnance pages on Facebook.

Photos as promised. The washer engages with the thread and screws on. Also shown is a 2 & 1/4" OD ~ 2" internal diameter plain copper/asbestos washer (not real asbestos) that I buy off a chap in the UK. He sells them as valve cap washers for vintage side-valve motorcycles.
