Can anyone give me some information on this cartridge ? It's identical to a British .303 round but appears to be French . Thank you . Siegfreid.

Yes, standard French WWI .303 round. The French used Vickers and Lewis guns in their aircraft and made their own .303 in Ball, Tracer, AP and incendiary.

They also were supplied from the UK with a lot of reject ball by the US Cartridge Company that they reloaded with their own projectiles.

Tony . Thanks for that . I live & learn . 50 years involved with militaria & I never realised the French made .303 rounds !

We also supplied them with just bullets to load into their own casses, tracer VIIG, Buckingham VIIB and AP VIIW.

Did you also know that Royal Laboratories loaded US 30-06 cases with British ball, tracer, AP and Buckingham bullets for the Americans in 1918? I have the full set in the collection.

Tony . I did not know that . My knowledge of SAA is very limited , just familiar with the normal suspects but I have come across a lot over the years . I always follow the posts regarding these items on BOCN with great interest . It's nice to see the depth of know how displayed by the experts . Thanks again , Mike.
