Hello,

First post here, but a long-time lurker.

I found this wedged in the kerb of a road on the seafront at Rustington in W Sx. It is pretty pitted and has signs of a brass jacket, but to me seems quite 'sharp' and pointed.

It would have been about 6mm in diameter when still circular.

All Googling seemed to lead here, so any suggestions would be gratefully received! Not a good example and not much to go on, but I'm intrigued as to what it is/was.

Welcome HughN. Dont think it is a penetrator core from a AP as you can still see the jacket and lead core in the second photo. If i was a betting man i would go for 7.62mm or .303.

bullet length might help to id it. definitely small arms rifle but 303, 7.62 or 7.92? cant tell from the pictures.
