Experimental 25 mm Hotchkiss

Here I have 2 experimental 25 mm Hotchkiss items.

The first is a 25x193 case, like the normal 25x193 Hotchkiss AT case, but with a different rim. I have found 1 source for information (W. de Hek, Military Cartridges part 4) where this exact case and stamp are drawn. My case does not have a projectile fitted. Also the reference states that no further information on its use or export is available.

However, the projectile shown in this reference I found later fixated on a 25x163 Hotchkiss case. So I know the projectile is experimental, but why on a 25x163 case? Since it is fixated in a rough way this might not be original. However, the case is also a bit different since the bottom does not show any stamp. The primer does have a French stamp (SFM 9-37).

Does anybody have additional info on these items?

Hi I don't know the answer to your question but I like the rounds, very nice, thanks for showing them.
Dave.

Since I posted another 25x163 question I accidentally noticed that the shown 25x163 case is actually a bit longer, but only 1 mm. In addition, the crimp does show not only the "bad" horizontal standard crimp, but also some small vertical ones.

This raises again the question if maybe this complete French round is experimental.

Hi,
your 25x193 looks like mine, but mine is a loaded one. My hstp is Hotchkiss 3 Paris 33 , it is for ! at least it is writen on my factory drawing # 13463 from Hotchkiss & Co, I said it is for a machine gun. I have no more information on this case type It does not seem to have been adopted in Europe but our two different years on the 2 Hotchkiss hstps would means that it is not experimental . Your 25x163 is not loaded with an experimental round . It is named " Obus ceinture" Hotchkiss dwg 18067 , it is plain iron or tungsten tracer ; different variations exist. This type of round was sold to Japan in 1934
If any more informations needed, just ask
phil
