Dutch EOD

Not sure about 1st pic - PIAT round?
2nd pic 40mm bofors?
3rd Para Helmet?

Good to see no OTT EOD activity.
Cordon. Find/Locate. Assess. Make Safe/Remove.

1 pic is a German steelhandgranate
2 pic a 6 Pounder ?
3 Para helmet

Its is a bit of a long piece but in a shorter version its reads.

Explosive herritage found at Oosterbeek dregging works.

Dozens of handgranades and motars rounds, anti tank ammo en a lot of pistol and rifleammo and some special finds have bin found on the site called the perimeter on the battle of Arnhem the last
refuge of the allied troops before their retreate over the lower rhein.

Weapons, Ammo and gear.

As expected there was a considrable amount of weapons ammo and gear found. Researchers found a British machinepistol, machinegun barrels (german) a german K98, British Parahelmet, German wehrmacht helmet, gasmask parts and buckels. A british gunsight box, cardmap, German mestins, clamp of a dropping container, blinding cap of a British motorcycle, and Brencarrier tracks.

Danger Explosifs,

The larger part was ammo. The searching and disposing off the explosives was not without danger when a heavy German anti tank mine was found just below the watersuface. Because of there long underwater stay some of the ammo was unstable with the possiblity of exploding. After all the ammo was determinated they where disposed off by Dutch EOD.

Not all 2ww stuf was found in the ponds and creeks around Arnhem. Also moneyboxes, vaults, and mopedframes turned up probebly from theft...

The waterschap is putting the results in a rapport with is to come out at a later time.

I will try to get this when is availeble and post it when possible. No further pic's are availeble at this moment that I'am a where off.

Spellingfaults included sorry.

Gr Michel

the anti tank mine mentioned in the article was a tellermine 35 stahl, and it was found next to the road leading from the perimeter to the doorwerth castle, probably placed to prevent break outs from oosterbeek.
