Can anyone help with some info, I have 2 .303 rounds both with DC headstamps one dated 1942 a tracer mk6z and the other dated 1941 a ball mk7z. I have found DC to be Dominion cartridge company but the info I have states only upto 1918 so who is the post 1918 manufacturer please or is the info wrong.

thanks
Richard.

DC Headstamp

Sorry Richard, my headstamp book is not vey clear on that is it? I must amend it.

Dominion Cartridge Co as an entity did indeed cease after WWI, as it had been absorbed by Canadian Explosives Ltd, which in turn became Canadian Industries Lts (CIL).

However, CIL continued to use the old Dominion brand and in WW2 ammuntion produced at the old plant used the DC headstamp.

I hope that clears things up and sorry for the confusion.

So am I correct in thinking that I should catalogue it as -Canadian Industries Ltd, Montreal, Canada

Which would have the CIL or IMPERIAL headstamp after WW2

many thanks

Richard.
