Hi to all,
looking for some info on this 8x58R Danish Krag tracer my old mate Andy(Andysarmoury) sent me yesterday, thanks mate.
Can only find info on the ball and blank versions of these rounds, the head has been 'painted white' and the bullet tip shows signs that this was also white at sometime, headstamp is 19 *VI 30 30 HL
Any help as to was the white head and bullet tip were codes for tracer ect would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Danish tracer codes are:

M03/33 178 grns. Head painted green
M03/33 Navy 178 grns. Head painted white
M08/34 Aircraft 196 grns head and tip painted white
M08/34 Navy 196 grns Head and tip painted red
M08/40 196 grns. Head painted white, tip painted red

There was also a de-rated tracer (?) which apparently was the M08/34 aircraft tracer used by the Navy which had the head and tip painted pink!

Not sure how those fit in with your 1930 dated case but maybe one of our Scandinavian colleagues can help.

The colorful Danish rounds are a little confusing to me.

Many years ago I became the left round. My first thinking was, witch idiot painted the bottom of the case white. I try to clean it. Ok it was a mistake, but a little paint is still visible.:tinysmile_shy_t:
The middle one is red/pink over white. ?
The most right one seems to be dark blue to me. Somebody wrote “Armor pearsing” on the case. The case is made in 1911!!! I don’t think AP rounds exist these day’s.
Also I have some nice colorful blanks.

For me it is all a mystery.

Many thanks TonyE and Dutch,
I must admit my first thought was that someone had painted it white also, but learnt the hard way to leave things well alone until id'd a long time ago.
Cheers

And hidden among all that danish text is the explanation of the star stamp in the left and right cases Dutch has on his picture. It means a reloaded case, so an AP in a 1911 case is not so silly as it sounds.

Thanks vey much for that bit of info Soren,I was wondering about the M08/34 title in my 1930 dated case, just picked up another of these but just a normal ball round, think they are a bit like buses, none about when you want one and loads of them when your'e not looking for one!

Cheers

The middle one is red/pink over white. ?

The round was originally made for the danish Army (Airforce) with white tip and head. Then given to the navy and painted over with their colour code for tracers (red/red).
