Having stripped out almost the entire bedroom , and installing an extention socket for my new Birthday present a Brand spanking new Robert Radio with Cd playes and Alarm clock , and having upset the cat in the process, finally i plugged it in , all seemed Ok it sorted out the clock no problem, when i played the Cd the cat dissapeared as though i had taken a shot at him , poor thing the sound from this unit sounded as though i was strangling one his family.
I did find out that DAB dosnt work in Pinner ! too many trees but one good thing i retrieved the missing Zus40 .
Back to Watford tommmorow for a moan and a refund

I no it was bloody awful the noise , i love Roberts Radios having Owned the original RIC2 (Valve radio) and the transistorised R200 model still in use as well as serviced them, and they were all rich in sound , this modern plasticky rubbish really is the pits., ive made up with cat a plate full of Sardines Mmmm

Ive given up on DAB radio i think i will buy myself something nice from the Ann summers shop next door I should get a Buzz out of it ! lol

DAB is complete rubbish. We couldn't get decent reception in our last house in SE London and we can't get it now in leafy Kent. To think that they will turn off analogue soon is a terrible thought. Internet radio is far better but more expensive.

Hi John
Im not sure if they will turn off Analogue radio, not for the foreseeable future , Pinner is a poor reception for digital phones , Orange !well forget about it , the only one that works here is 02.The freeview converter on the kitchen TV even using the wrong band aerial and only being about 10 feet off the ground the reception is excellent, so i thought DAB no problem, How wrong i was.

If i had kept my 30 foot Altron mast with the log periodic aerial , and pointed the aerial at the sat then maybe just maybe get a signal.
Update Its going back tomorrow

Roberts radio rule!

Yes my misses bought me one for my birthday and it is great, works on all stations excepting one and the sound is unbelievable (sorry fuzeman it is a Roberts !) reception is fine/brilliant with the only slight let down being Radio 4 which has a slight hum in the background-realised it was intermittant and found out that the fridge was the problem.

Radio 4 on = fridge off!
just have to remember to turn it back on after program has finished or we will have a lot of yoghourt instead of milk:tinysmile_angry2_t:.

Yes I agree. I bought one from BT and it was only 49.00. It worked brilliantly for a week then died. They gave me a refund as that model had been discontinued due to unreliability. All the new ones seem to be 150 upwards so maybe they have to be good quality.

It was great to have a worldwide selection of radio stations to listen to. DAB is technically a disaster in most areas. Even Chris Evans on R2 was slating it.

ive seen two of those 'retro' looking DAB radios on my travels and they work ok up here.

best
