D Day memorabilia

Hi all,

just thought i would show you some interesting D Day memorabilia recently aquired from feebay.
Its a watch, a ladies fob watch to be exact that has been coverted into a wristwatch, the hours are therefore not in the correct position when worn and it was taken from a German soldier on D Day by an American soldier who had just taken him prisoner. It came with provenance and a picture of said soldier taken in 1944 in England. The soldier was a Bernard C. Greenstein, 4th Div Inf who enlisted 20/06 1941. It also states on the back of the picture that the American was 91 on 14/05/09.
It cost only a very small amount, an impulse buy and actially still works fine. An interesting item.

Just a bit to add, this guy was in the first wave of the 8th Inf Regt to hit Utah beach on D Day so was among the first US troops to land in Occupied Europe on June 6th 1944. I reccon for ony $8 this was a great piece of history, especially with its provenance. He was also lucky to have survived to tell the tale.
