Competition winners day out.

A good day out was had by the B.O.C.N. "competition" winners who visited a location in the south today, the visit was guided by a retired Major from the Royal Artillery and the Ammunition room was visited, this was followed by lunch in the officers mess (very kindly sponsored by Spotter- thank you Allan!) and then we all got to go and have a look around the "vehicle park" and viewed various vehicles.
We also got to go and have a look at the "Breech shop" where different breech closure systems are on display for various weapons allowing new "Gunners". to be fully trained.

Our great thanks go to Major D.Haensel for making the day possible.

A picture of the group from B.O.C.N. is attached including the following members-
Tim G
Hangarman
Falcon
Snufkin
Charlie
Glevum

More photos will follow later from myself and fellow members.

Cheers Chris for organising this, it was a brilliant day out. You don't get chance to see something like that every day.

More pictures of the day

Here are a few "oldies" for the collectors of really old kit.

Thanks to Chris, Spotter and Bolo for all their hard work. It was great to meet everyone and to put a face to a name. I had a thoroughly great day out and eagerly await the next competition.

Some photos of HESH rounds, their results, kinetic energy AP rounds and an APFSDS result. Note the HESH-induced scab in each case has a diameter/maximum width of 10-12 inches (250-300cm).

Heat

Some photos of the HEAT rounds. Note the effect of the M77 bomblets on 6 inch rolled homogeneous armour plate - good confirmation of the 6x cone diameter penetration capability.

Missing part of picture.

Well Bazooka Chris "Snufkin" has come to the rescue with the photo that you wanted-the "left hand side" that I missed.

Thank you for posting those excellent pictures Snufkin.

A big thank you.

I would like to say a BIG thank you to both Bolo and Spotter for their help in running the competition as it involved a lot of work being carried out by both of them behind the scenes and in their spare time which as we all know is a very precious commodity !

Thank you Gentlemen.:cheers::cool:

Just thought I'd bump this old thread as there are some excellent photographs.

Dave.
