Collection reorganisation

navyman

Well-Known Member
Hello all,
Just a few pic's showing part of my collection being reorganised. (All deac or inert of course), I've still to paint or varnish the wooden backing, and then start adding a descriptive lable to each item.
Still plenty of work to do but it's certainly keeping me occupied!
Cheers,
navyman.

Great Collection

Hi Navyman,
Great collection and really well displayed, that must have taken a while to set up. Some lovely rounds in there , I look forward to seeing any aditions to it in the future. Thank you for taking the time to photograph it and share it with us.
Best regards Weasel.

Very nice collection

Hi Navyman and firstly thanks for showing us that superb collection.

Very nicely displayed and you have many nice items in there, I particularly like the Lincoln Jefferies Air rifle, does it still have its original spring ?
The reason I ask is that I also have one which has unfortunately acquired a replacement spring at some point in its life which is incorrect as they had a strange shaped (elipse form) spring which is of course unobtainable these days.

Very nice collection !

Lincoln Jeffries.

Hello Chris,
I was given the Lincoln Jeffries about 45 years ago. When I received it the condition was awful. The trigger guard, rear sight, and butt plate were missing. I made a new trigger guard from some scrap brass sheet and filed a rear sight from a lump of some sort of aluminium alloy. I've still not got round to making the butt plate!
After a good clean the old rifle works ok, not very powerful but accurate. I think the mainspring is round but havn't time to take it to bits at present. I've been wondering if it is indeed an L J as it looks a bit similar to the BSA Model D, any ideas? There is still some faint engraving showing, and I've chalked the serial number, it has an L prefix so that may be a clue.
The man you need to talk to about springs is;
John Knibbs,
e.mail; enquiries@airgunspares.com
Web site; www.airgunspares.com
I think he has spares for many ancient air weapons.
Thanks to all for the nice comments on my small but unfinished collection,
Cheers,
navyman.

collection and presentation of course very good as already mentioned above, navyman, but I like also your fine furniture and the superb flower-vase! :top:

and the decanter too

Hi Guy, Great collection as i've wondered ever since we have been web friends. Great diversity of stuff and nicely displayed..Best...Dano

Thanks for info!

Hi Navyman and thanks for the info.
I jumped at the "Lincoln Jeffries" because that is what mine is, however I cannot remember who came first-ie Birmingham Small Arms or Lincoln jefferies so cannot say who's is the older weapon of the two.
If you have made the parts then I take my hat off to you as I had not noticed they had been made up-you probably have done such a good job they are unnoticeable.
Thank you for the tip regarding spares, I may well contact him for a few other bits!

As for the main spring it is if I remember correctly eliptical in section which was an unusual shape for a spring!

If it is of any help I will picture my rifles Butt plate for you to copy?

Yes please Chris,
It would be a great help to have a picture of the butt plate to copy. Nice to also see a couple of your rifle so I can look for any similarities?
Cheers,
Guy.

Mortar vase!

collection and presentation of course very good as already mentioned above, navyman, but I like also your fine furniture and the superb flower-vase! :top:

Glad you like it, the flower vase is a cut down French 81mm mortar round which has been copper and nickel plated.
Cheers,
Guy.

Pictures to be done !

Will try to do it tomorrow Guy and will put up the pictures here.
Best regards
Chris

Lincoln Jeffries Patent.

Here are the pictures of my Lincoln Jeffries Patent .177 air rifle made by Birmingham Small Arms company.
It is low powered but very very accurate and when bench mounted puts a few modern weapons to shame.
The Butt plate is made of steel of approx 12 SWG (2.3mm) gauge material.

Thanks for the pictures Chris. The cocking lever and butt plate are different to mine which makes me think that my example is indeed a BSA Model D. Perhaps one of our members could confirm or correct me on this?
Cheers,
Guy.

id

hey there,
nice collection, what type is the grenade with the red tailsection next to the 2inch mortar rounds?
is it italian? looks familiar.

greetz

Phonque,

Have a good look at work on monday.
All I will tell you now that it is Italian.

Chris

dear chris,

since i am at work TODAY i wil go and have a look now, next three days i am off, so see you at christmas dinner.

And i guess my italian guess was not that bas after all..:)

could it be a mortar round named after a big city in the south of our wonderful country? :)

It's an Italian Brixia mortar round, I confused it with the 'Red Devil' hand grenade at first, but have now been put right on that!
It is another rebuild from a dug relic, I have pictures if anyone is interested?
Cheers,
Guy.

hey navyman,
do you have any documentation because i find it as the BREDA mortar round

grtz
