Clockwork fuze ident

I was given this by an an Ex bomb disposal man recently , he was led to believe its from a 1 st world war artillery shell can anyone positvly identify it for me please
dia A = 1.25 inches (30MM)
Height = 3/4 inch (15mm)
construction is Brass in 6 layers
Any info much appreciated

Great thanks very much , the stupid thing is i have a sectioned fuze showing the clock sitting on the book case, i never looked at it .
