Hi,

Can you help me to identify this clockwork ?
I've searched on the forum but I don't find exactly the same.
A friend told me it's a ZtZ mecanism but I'm not sure...

Is it possible to know the time delay ?

Thanks in advance.

Stephan

Hi Stephan,
Im tempted to say its from a Type 89 German bomb fuze?
My 17A clocks look slightly different plus i recognize the makers mark on the pot as deffo german.
Quality pictures by the way!

Its A german clockwork mechanism , ive looked at my (89) clocks allthough same casting , they vary in design , im tempted to say late war ZTz clocks , the only way to see how long they work would be to wind them up and time them. its an interesting item.

Hi all,

Many thanks for your answers.
So, it's a late war Zt.Z clock.
Can you tell me what fuze was this clock intended for ?

Here are pictures of the box (height : 51 mm, diameter : 49 mm).

And markings :

Depending what the timing is on that clock it could be for the (17) (17) A the (17)Bm , or the (89) series A, B, C also the FZ60 they all use the same clocks
Sorry i cant be of more help.

Hi Steve,Its deffo different from those 17A clocks i have. Satan18 might know as i just sent an 89 for him to cut and use the spares?

I will do it.
But after, it's very hard to put back the firing pin ! :tinysmile_fatgrin_t
However, I have a 17Bm and it's not possible to exchange the two clockworks.

Hi thats very interesting i thought that they were interchangeable
Steve

Hi paul I was going by the material of construction , the clock shown is the same material as the (89) i have here . dull grey zinc rather than bright ali . it could still be a late war version, i,m certain its not for artillery fuzes.

There is only one spur (sorry, I don't know if it's the good word in english) on a clock for 17Bm. The clocks with two spur can't be put into the 17Bm clock housing.

Here is mine :

But perhaps there is variants.

I've made 5 test, the cam shaft in this position at the beginning :

Time delay is about 75-76 seconds.

Perhaps the marking 79 on the fuze is the time delay ?

The 89 clocks that you sent me are very close but not exact, unless
they were of slightly varying manufacture.

Will get some pics on soon

Best phil

I believe the clock is for the (89) Fuze which ran for 80 seconds.

Hello!

Can you identify this german clockwork? It is very similar to that shown by user "minen", but not altogether.

Marking:

42af (42 is year of production, yes?)

R GS (probably "S")
B

PS Sorry - I'm beginner in English language and I must use translator.

Hello Wojtek,

you should upload your images to the forum directly as your links do not work (they are only visible by copying the link into adress bar). Your clockwork is from a german No. 89 bomb (time) fuze an it is not 100% complete.
