Ciney show forbid ordnance.

Yesterday I read a paper given to a friend of mine past October at Ciney. It was in French, but I think that the resume would be this: in the next Ciney on 26th April will be forbidden to sell all the live guns, parts for guns, any type of ammo, rockets, mortars, grenades, etc. Any of you know anything more? Also another friend from Latvia who went to Ciney past October for sell relic things, mostly ordnance, was warned by a policeman that the next time he would come to Ciney for sell he will cant bring all those things for sell. If this comes true and with the new project/law in France will be very difficult to collect things from fairs. There are here some French members, please tell us what is happening in your country about the collecting and or selling ordnance.

I too had heard that news last year that the country was going to bring in very strict laws on ordnance

Hi

The beginning of the changement was this day i mean .

I i have seen month after month the controls and paranoa all over the planet (before in Canada with the post , and Australia ....) today France , Belgium, Germany ....

"The fear does not avoid the danger" , say we in France

PS : Ciney is in Belgium

.

yes, the police gave all the traders a leaflet explaining that the law had changed some time ago and that the issue of the leaflets was a warning that from now on the law will be enforced. The net is closing, how long before the UK adopts the same policy?

Ive been thinking the same for a long time now....:tinysmile_cry_t2:

Unfortunately it's becoming worldwide, first commonly inside our good EU.:tinysmile_cry_t3:

Yes, and always with our "great" governors is easier to forbid everything instead to do a special law with licenses for collectors, as Netherland has.
And yes, Ciney is in Belgium, but when I ask about the new project in France is why I now about it.

I have also heard this info regarding Ciney from Ben Junier, all ordnance items can not be sold at Ciney from 2009.

Always enjoyed going to Ciney, was a good weekend away

I will try to get a scan of the original leaflet for post it here, then a fellow French member could translate it. Cause not only the ordnance was affected, weapons too. Last time that I went to Ciney was a little waste of time, past April, there were good items of ordnance, but very common, nothing special. Seems that La Gleize is better for the ammo collectors.

The same people who makes all the stupid rules around, the politicians. Persons who live in another world and never ask to the people who pay their pays.

As promised attached a scan of the leaflet given in past Ciney, October 2008. Click on pic one time for open it and then another time for to be able for do it bigger. If you have problems for do it let me know it and I will change the scan.

Hello Everybody, we have to wait a little bit, next week there will come some information about this matter, the problem is that the major of Ciney is against the selling of inert ordnance, the problem is that the major can make these rules, so please everybody just wait until next week, than there will be some new information, Regards Ben (fjordhouse)

Hi Ben:
Please keep us informed about. Im specially interested cause Im planing to go to Ciney next April. The same than Fernando.

Id like to put a positive spin on this if I may??? I love the shows too.Even if I go to a show/swap meet/sale and dont find or by a dang thing,I still love the activity/hobby.Ive noticed a steady decline over the last few years of shows in general and in the items for sale at the shows.Ive also noticed an increase of paranoia on all levels, from the authorities all the way down to the smallest and newest collecters. And I dont agree with the philosophy of having an attack or accident of someone elses fault or design effect how I live my life.So I agree on all counts.
But,Im not going to let it stop me from collecting.Im sad to see shows change and or disappear, but, thanks to this and other web sites,Im making friends, networking, sharing info and exchanging ideas. The days of bargin basement ordnance finds are slowing down, maybe even ending,as with almost all things. But then again,it never really goes away totally,it just evolves. And we will all evolve with it.So chin up guys.We still have each other!!!!

All what you say is right. I have known much more people through the net than at the fairs. And many of them are good friends now with who have dealt many time for sell and for buy. But the fairs are good for know dealers. Old dealers who know who has this and where are that, etc. You know? Europe is not like the US. Here there are a lot of old collections collected in the early years after the war. And when I say "collections collected in the early years after the war" I mean complet cases of all you can imagine, equipment, etc, etc. There were left behind tons and tons of equipment, many of them destroyed after the war, but many more still hidden in the old houses and barns. For this the shows are so important. And with the current problems for ship items worldwide....

Hello Everybody, there is some news about Ciney, there has been contakt with the people that are running the show, they have said that they will check what kind of rules there are, and they will find out what kind of licence there is needed for the selling of the items that we like to collect, there will be more news in 2 weeks, it goes slowly in Belgium, so in 2 weeks we know more. so like always we will hear 4 weeks before Ciney if its possibel to sell or to buy inert Ordnance. regards Ben

This is the Dutch version that i got from my good friend Pascal

Heb contact gehad met verantwoordelijke beurs Ciney, hij zal nakijken aan welke formaliteiten hij moet voldoen.
Ik neem half maart terug met hem contact op.
