I was going through some old boxes and came across a set of loading tools for loading small fuze componets like primers, detoantors, leads, relays, etc. It is one set of what would have been 26, all 26 would be postioned on the loading table belt. this belt would move around the table and at various stations it would position a cup, then move to the next where a measured load of powder (lead azide, RDX, PETN, NOL-130 etc) would be poured in, then the next station the press pin would consolidate the powder (press it), depending on what part was being made there could be additional loads of powder and additional consolidations made. The at the end a small metal disc would be placed over the part and it would be crimped in place completing the part.
This tool set was for a small delay primer, but I can't remember which one. If you look at the photo the first one is the tooling assembled (press pin would not be setting in it though). The second picture shows the press bushing (which would be stationary on the mechanical belt), the the inner bushing this part holds the part being made, then the outter bushing (this part holds the inner bushing and if there is a detonation during loading, and there normally is) it holds the cup and prevents blast and fragments from hitting operators. Then the loading funnel - this part helps the poured powder get into the cup and also helps guide the press pin. The press pin in normally postioned at one of the consolidaton stations and a hydralic press pushes it down into the bushings and cup. There's alot more to loading parts then what I have described, it can be very complicated determining powder loads, pressures, etc
Going to sell these if anyone is interested, PM or email (webereod@yahoo.com) me. I also have the inner and outter bushings used to make the 5909 detonator, this is the detonator that went into the .22 cal devasator, the bullets that shot Regan
