Bullets, etc

Any idea of the age and type of gun used to shoot these bullets, please? THe last pics are of a piece of brass found near an anti artillery shell fuze...will post some more re the 4 pic rule but they are in this album

The first two photos look like .45 ACP bullets, so probably date from WW2. The round ball could be anything from a musket ball to a shrapnel ball.

The empty case with the "fluted" top looks like a .455 Blank, so could be either WWI or 2.

From the pics on the photobucket page. Petrol cap x 2, 8mm blank , .22 long rifle, .22 short, .38 blank, .22 x 2, .45 ACP, musket ball?, .455 .
This is assuming the coin for scale is a penny.

Wow! You know your stuff! Yes it is a 1p. Thanks! Petrol cap from which vehicle, please? So apart from the musket ball, they're all from the WWII?

Petrol cap from a 2 gallon petrol can. Could be WW1 to 1960's. Commercial caps tended to have BP or MEX or SHELL embossed in the top, military ones are blank. Looking at the condition its ww2 or older. Musket could be , well anything. The rest are likely to be from the same period. The cartridges should have headstamps, .22 likely to be ICI or E (eley). The red herring could be the 8mm blank, if thats what it is. Does it have green or white plastic in the open end. Does it have a headstamp? 8 mm blanks are relativly new and are used in blank firing weapons, usually by re-enactors of WW2 battles. The .455 was probably fired from a Webley service revolver, the .45 from either a Colt Government or may be a Thompson SMG. The .22 is used for training from various rifles and pistols.
