Picked up this beauty yesterday which appears to be a British 8-inch high explosive howitzer shell of
WW1. Base unfortunately missing but nevertheless a heavy piece of metal. Measurements exactly as in
the drawing. Probably had a No. 101 fuze but this 'alternative head' (as depicted in the drawing) needs
a long threaded adapter for a proper fit. Underneath the red lead primer I discovered some yellow ochre
paint which looks to be original.
Searching for such an adapter so if someone happens to have one to spare (or an illustration showing
the adapter) then please drop me a line. Thx.
