Hello, i got this nice items last sunday, very nice 3.45 RCL Drill, the normal round is already hard to find so i was suprised to get this one. yesterday was a perfect day. Ben
I always knew it as the 3.45 Inch "Burney Recoiless" round.
These rounds are fairly scarce (there is however one on this forum) and they were the developement models for what became the 120 MM Battallion Anti Tank guns.
The rounds that still exist seem to have a lot of variations of base plates with different primers and "blow out" panels.
See attached H.E.S. version this had a number 250 primer and 8 segment brass "blow out" screen.
Yes will i think you are correct, i have the case with the holes, but no projectile, but i hope to find it some day, i never thought that i would find the drill Version. Ben
The cases I have seen were both "tapered" to the same angle except that one design was a "base blow out" design and the other was the "side vented" type with all the holes that Will talks about-from memory the cases were both tapered at the same angle.
