My son fetched this 40mm bofors from the car boot sale today, is the shell a dummy or practice round because there is something inside the shell, it has plug firing rep 259 MK N1 5/53RML

stamped on the alloy head and in yellow paint on the steel part of the projectile which I cannot make out all the letters ?epresenta????.

Thanks for the quick reply Darren, I thought it might be a weight but I needed it confirmed. what does REP mean.

Hi . The case will have either wood or a fiberclay filling and the projectilie sometimes has a hard coal like resin or a wax filling to represent the filled weight :)
