Bit of a weird one

I have some fuzzy photos that I'd like to know more about - What, who, where, when?
Can anyone identify the ordnance or anything-else, as I have no details other than these photos.
Looks post WW2 so a bit out of my wheelhouse. Would it be Vietnam related?
Is the ordnance air-dropped (aircraft cluster bomb), or ground fired?
Thanks.
Look no further if you're squeamish -

If you do an image search for the last photo with Google you will find it on Reddit with the caption “Nguyen van Luong, a South-Vietnamese soldier, got impaled by a 60mm mortar shell and survived.”

That's great!- I'd not thought of doing a search like that. Must learn to be more computer literate!
Much appreciated.
Because of that I've found-
"In October 1966, Pfc.Nguyen Van Luong was riding in the back of an APC when enemy 60mm mortar round struck the hatch of the carrier, going through his helmet and lodging the live round into his shoulder, knocking him unconscious.
Capt. Harry Dinsmore was at the chow hall in Danang when he was called up for an emergency surgery."

A Life Magazine photo spread in the Oct. 14, 1966, issue tells more.

I saw a photo in a book years ago that showed a WW2 German soldier who survived a British shell in North Africa that skimmed off his mouth and nose as it passed him. From the diameter it looked like it was a 25 Pr that hit him.
