Hi Ben,
Thats a great growing collection you have got there, look forward to seeing any new additions you get. Are you going to keep collecting the large rounds ?
Best regards Weasel.

Hello Ben,
Very good collection, I do like the way you have displayed your items and the 4.5inch charge bags in there frame, well yes some thing I have been meaning to do for a long time now.

Best of luck with it all.
Jim

Hi Weasel, I intend to. Though I'm only interested in British artillery shells of the great war, so the 8inch and 9.2inch are the biggest I could collect. There are still a few 6inch ones I'm missing though :)

Hi Jim, yes I'm really pleased with the charge bags. They don't have the hole in the middle like your ones as these were filled with NCT.

Ben.

Thankyou!!

Just wanted to say a BIG, HUGE, MASSIVE thanks to Lee, Richard, Andy, et al who have sold me most of the pieces in the collection. And also to Darrel (I know you're on here somewhere?) from whom I purchased the initial pieces that spawned the collection :tinysmile_twink_t2:,

Thanks guys!!

Really nice looking stuff! I liked the big casings on the shelf to see the headstamps.

Update - All inert of course

Added a few new pieces to the collection since last time so here's an update...

1st pic: The new pieces.. 3 & 6pdr Hotchkiss rounds with common pointed shells, 60pdr MkIII streamlined shell that needs some attention, 2pdr common pointed, 60pdr MkI pusher plate/centre tube and brown paper lining, 1900 dated 15pdr Erhardt British contract shrapnel shell, Relic No24 rifle grenade, Excellent condition (was found on somme - in a barn i guess as not pitted) No35 rifle grenade, small ww1 era crested china shell with "Iron rations for fritz" print.
2nd pic: Main part of collection.
3rd pic: Sectioned 18pdr HE shell.
4th pic: Cleaned, treated and re-painted the 6in Shrapnel.

A new item

This arrived in the post today! A HUGE thanks goes to Jim (Grapeshot) for pointing it out to me

Really love items like this, Its a complete (Inert) charge for a 4.5inch Howitzer. The case is dated 1910 and still retains most of the original dull black laquer and the red stencilling. The 5 charge bags are dated 1913 as is the packing slip which is tucked into the ribbon handle of the leatherboard lid. The NoII primer is dated 1912 (The primer appears intact externally - it has however been drilled out from the inside)

Hope you enjoy as much as i do!

Ben.
