Hi Joe,
these photos, I think from the Picatinny collection, were shown here a few years back. The tag-card that came with it identified it as a italian V-5 HE-mine. The V-5 was 114cm long, 4 cm wide and had a height of 6cm. The weight was 4,6kg without expl. It is very similar to the V-3 mine, which is larger.
regards,
Bellifortis.

Hallo @MINENAZ16,
I'm no expert on this matter, but looking at the fuzes of the 2 mines there seem to be quite a few differences. The hungarian model uses an igniter/detonator that looks like a russian MD-2. When you look at Joe's photo of the inside of the fuze, which is brass and the knurled brass screw of the cap-holder, its much different to the hungarian model, also the outsides look very much the same.
Regards,
Bellifortis.
For your consideration I attach drawings of the V-3 and V-5 arrangements. I must admit that there seem to be differences to Joe's fotosV-5.PNGV-3.PNG

the measurements from this book are very slightly different than jvollenbergs,but who knows how accurate they were when the book was made

Bellifortis,

Yes, Jeff or myself might have posted them. I am just working through some of the disks to show the pictures for everyone, and try and ID them correctly. I have seen the museum, and even Picatinny get the IDs incorrect. The measurements might be off a little due to variances in the tools we have over the manufacturing tools. Plus we were in a hurry to go through everything and might have messed the up as well. I wish we would have had more time to do it right completely, but it is what it is.

If nothing else it is creating some great conversations on the different ordnance items out there.

Joe

@kiwieod and @jvollenberg,
let me remind you that the measurements given by me were for the italian model and not the hungarian. So the measurements given in the quoted US publication may be right and should be used. But, I still wonder about the differences in the fuze.
Bellifortis.
