Badges?!?! We don't need no. . . .

Got these as a surprise in a recent package. The extent of my collection includes a few Navy rank badges and stuff relevant to my Dad's service. Not near as elegant as this lot, tho. I got the Soviet ID without a problem. And there's that nautical one, so definitely Navy. The others, I have no clue. The silver one is more than likely of Norwegian origin. Hat badges; pretty sure. And the little wreathed stars are probably collar tab devices.
If anyone onbard here can ID specific service, branch, etc. I would appreciate it. All my references are about bombs and such. Nada on insignia.

These were loose, so had to figure out a way to keep them in decent shape and display them. Like Weasel's blank bullet board, I went with red. Which is VERY appropriate for these. That's a GORILLA TAPE border, FYI. I spared no expense. The bride GAVE me the counted-cross-stitch matting. Worked perfectly. Came out OK, I suppose. Better than them being stuck in a drawer for the next 20 years, 'til the kids throw them out.

Very cool,
Heard those are a good investment, especially the cold war examples. Are they all hat badges or a mixture hat and other???

Rick ,,i believe the silver badge with OV in the centre is Norwegian Air Force

The silver ”OV” badges is indeed a Norwegian ”hat” pin. We used it on our berets when I did my service. I say used because this is an old badge which now loner are in use due to the “OV” which represent the king from that time, Olav the 55[SUP]th[/SUP] is dead. These days it is a similar badge with an “H” and the number “5” upon it is in use which represent the king named Harald the 5[SUP]th[/SUP].. I have seen those badges in both silver and gold but don’t really know what the difference between the colour is. Hope this was the explanations you guys where looking for.

Cheers

Is the Norwegian badge exclusive to the Air Force, or did all services wear it?

All weapon branches wear those due to it is a king emblem. Maybe the color says something about it but I’m not sure. Personally I was a recon solider in the cavalry and I had a gold colored badge on a black beret.
