What is this twin barreled AA gun? Also, what are those attachments on the end of the barrels for?

Thanks for any info.

Oerlikon twin 35mm AA cannon,?I have no idea what the attachments at the muzzles are for unless it is to deflect the muzzle blast for some reason,I would be interested to know myself what their purpose is,
Cheers,
Don,

I believe the muzzle devices are to sense projectile velocity for more accurate programming of the target tracking/lead estimation.

As well as sensing muzzle velocity they set the fuze with data from the associated radar. This sets time/distance to burst and is particularly important for the Oerlikon AHEAD round which bursts ahead of the target and produces a cloud of fragments aimed forward that the target has to fly through.
