This is a scarce Australian Mk3 Blue Smoke Grenade (not a Mk3/3 common one).
Listed in Lynn book as experimental and not made by Britain. Australia did make this grenade as I inerted this example with the original tin and striker lever.

The grenade is stencilled: Grenade Hand No.83 SMOKE BLUE MK 3 (in 4 lines as shown).
FILLED MY Lot 3. COMP V.L DATE 10/60.
11/57 AF over S (Which is the grenade maker and date. Who is this maker?

The top and bottom of the tin have raised maker details as shown.
FEDCO seems to be FEDCO Metal Fabricators (for over 100 years)
16 Jackson St, Bassendean, WA 6054 . (Still operating here in 2025?) This is a suburb NE of Perth. I hope this is the correct ID).

The striker and blackened lever are original and stamped: STR-MECH No3 Mk 1/2 P.J.K 57. Who is P.J.K ?

Nice find.Used to find hundreds of these 83 during the 1970 fired but not in the light Brunswick green body finish but in the NATO pail green. The tins that they came in, as seen here were the same.

The Australian tins for 1970's No 83 Mk3/3 in the light green come in the same cylinder 689 but they are a medium green paint and not brown paint. I have just taken photos of my Aussie grenade tins so will post them later and hope to ID some of the makers.

Dimensions of Mk 3/3 grenades are the same as my dark green Mk 3 one.
113.5mm can only length. 121mm to top of adaptor. 140mm overall. Seam is 60mm diam and the body is thinner at 58mm.

I forgot to show the FEDCO brown tin for the No 83 Mk3 smoke grenade.
