Hello everyone,
This is my first post.
I was wondering if any one has a total list of all the H. numbers on ammunition packing. It includes boxes wrappers and labels. Most ammunition packaging had a H number and I have been unable to find a list anywhere.
Thank You.
Danny.
Hi. Aust 303,
Well there's H 1 and there must be an H2 but have not come across it, then theres H3.......
I guess between LCpl , Tony E and other members we have most of the numbers in our collections. Is there any way that LCpl combat can create a page with H numbers from H1 to H???? and members that know any particular H numbers can identify the packaging next to its specific number. Does any one know the last H number? and we can fill in the gaps in between. LCpl has started a consolidatd list of H numbers for boxes which might be a good start on your quest.
Over tyhe course of the next week or so, I will try to go through all my labels and then post the numbers and the contents. Don't hold your breath, I have a lot to sort through!
Well here are three to start off with while TonyE sorts through his vast collection/records.
H.2466 12rnd Mk 2z .380" ball box(no manufacturer or date)
H.3282 32rnd Mk 7 .303" ball box(no manufacturer 1945 dated),by the way this box has No23 MkI AC/N 1945 impressed in it also.
H.266 10rnd Mk V blank wrapper(no manufacturer or date) blanks un headstamped, therefore probably of WW2 vintage.
Danny do you also require the H No's from the wood and tin ammo boxes?
Just found two more, both on the 50rnd plastic inners from ammo boxes
H.3583 50rnd ball L2A2 7.62mm,Radway Green 13 08 1984
H.3581 50rnd ball,sniper L2A2(no manufacturer,but 99.9% it would be RG,no date
And not sure if this any use but H.1003A on a Canadian box of 12rnds .380Mk IIz ball, manufactured by DC on the 23 12 1943
Here are the first lot. I still have some more to go through though.
I have also included Air Inspection Department labels (who took over RAF ammo from about 1943 ish), a couple of Indian Army labels and Naval label numbers.
I have put it up as a PDF, but if LCpl or anyone else wants it to merge with their own data I can send it as a spreadsheet.
Yes please to the spreadsheet TonyE,having a lot of grief with PDF's at the moment:tinysmile_cry_t4:
Don't fully understand 'blogs'(don't understand much about them at all actually) but maybe this subject would be ideal for one because of all the info?
Any thoughts on this?
Anybody?
Any body understand blogs?:hmmmm:
It seems to be a great resource we have on here not being used yet!
This is to add to TonyE's list. I have been collecting H numbers for some time and have tried not to duplicate. Have also added some Australian and Canadian numbers. I have not added the H Numbers related to a previous thread on labels

Many thanks for that. I have just PM'd you my e-mail address and would be grateful if you could send me a non Pdf version of your list. I will then incorporate it with mine and put it on the thread.
Anyone else with any H numbered labels (or any other type)?
